Our Mission
Kingfisher Equine Rehab & Rehome Inc. (KERRI) exists to help retired Thoroughbred
racehorses transition from competition to rewarding second careers through comprehensive
rehabilitation and responsible rehoming programs rooted in integrity, education, and
compassion.
KERRI operates in alignment with the recognized industry standards and best practices for
equine welfare, rehabilitation, and aftercare, prioritizing transparency, ethical stewardship,
and long-term placement success at every stage of care.
Our Vision
KERRI envisions a Thoroughbred racing industry in which humane, transparent, and well-
funded aftercare is the standard expectation—not the exception—and where every
Thoroughbred exiting competition is afforded the opportunity for rehabilitation, retraining, and a safe, meaningful second career.
Our Core Values
Horse Welfare First
The physical and psychological well-being of each horse is our highest priority and guides all
programmatic decisions.
Transparency & Full Disclosure
We commit to honest, complete disclosure of medical, behavioral, and training histories to
adopters, donors, and partners.
Ethical Stewardship
We operate with integrity, sound governance, and responsible management of charitable
resources in accordance with nonprofit law and industry standards.
Education & Advocacy
We promote informed Thoroughbred aftercare practices and responsible ownership through
education and collaboration within the racing and equestrian communities.
Responsible Placement & Lifelong Accountability
We prioritize thoughtful matching, clear adoption agreements, and ongoing follow-up to support long-term success beyond adoption.
